Following the reforms granted by Pius IX (September 26), white was replaced with black and the flag became the same as the papal one.
1849
Once the hopes placed on the Pope had fallen, the flag returned to that of 1739.
1858
On December 15, with resolution no. 548, the Civic Magistrate deliberated and ordered that the Contrada della Tartuca raise a sign "with a yellow and blue background, with equal parts, slightly guilloche in black".
1859
The Contrada abandoned the black arabesques and raised a yellow and blue flag in equal parts.
