A Contrada without enemies:

La Selva does not currently have an official enemy.

In the past it had a heated rivalry with the neighboring Pantera, even if the causes were probably not territorial. In fact, during the extraordinary Palio of 4 October 1745, the Selva, which was before, was stopped by the sticks of the "Grifa", a panther who took to the track to favor his Contrada, which in fact won the victory with the jockey Musino.

Also in this case there was no lack of attempts to reconcile which resulted in furious fights: a famous dinner organized in this sense ended up punched only because a representative of one of the two Contradas, while preparing to pronounce the first sentences of a reconciliation speech, he inadvertently poured wine on another, unleashing the fury of those present. The rivalry died out with time and between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century the Contrade made neutrality official.
