The Salicotto road divides into two Contrade, that is, from the part of the old market called Foro Boario from the Canto di Malcucinato to the Porta Peruzzini at the head of salicotto is called the Contrada di salicotto below, makes for Insegna red field with blue list and three lilies d gold in it.

On the side of Saint Martino, it is called the Contrada of Salicotto di sopra, from the same chant of Malcucinato where the Tower of Square at the said Peruzzini Door is founded, where the streets of Vannello where the Jews live, of Coda, and of Luparello, makes for arms red field with blue list, and three white drums in it.

These two Contrade appear at the shows with the banner of an elephant, which to be such animals of great robustness and size, which on the back of which the towers, full of armed soldiers, fit, and for the public Tower of the Campo, which is located in these Contrade, it is named after the common by the Tower. I begin these Contrade to introduce this machine in the year 1546 to a hunting of bulls to which 88 Young men dressed in bertina livery with red band served as accompaniment. The year 1599 made a rich Palio run, and the year 1601 brought victory. The year 1650 appeared with 60 Men dressed in the Moorish style, who led the moon over a large cart, adored by the Moors, and then followed Hannibal Carthaginian, who led an elephant from Africa, and this was judged the most beautiful appearance of that party, which therefore won the prize, which was a silver basin, priced 60 scudi. The year 1676 in honor of Princess Chigi appeared with great magnificence, which however brought a rich prize. In 1709, out of pure generosity, he ran a prize, and after the race was over he showed the people a large tower, which in the beginning of the evening gave birth to a large number of fires with worked artifices. And lastly, as the year 1717 appeared with a large number of richly dressed people, who led the sun in triumph over a golden carriage, for which appearance it brought the first prize. These councilors gather their councilors in the Church of the Saints Giacomo, and Cristofano manufactured at the expense of the public by the Salicotto road in memory of the reported victory, obtained by our Republic in the year 1526 on the day, in which the feast of said Saints falls , but by these inhabitants increased, and adorned. We can rightly give this boast to these Contradas, that their very large people have always proved to be of great value in all the military beginnings of our Republic.

The Contrada of Realto occupies all that road, called with this name, which above leads into Saint Martino, and below for two streets in Salicotto, near Porta Peruzzini, so called in my opinion, for being a place raised high, it is for a white field sign with a blue list, and a red barred lion, and three golden lilies.

On the opposite side, the aforementioned street named Contrada di Saint Giusto, from the former Parish Church dedicated to said Saint, now annexed to that of Saint Martino, and ends at the Peruzzini Door. This Contrada in the year 1447 used to make the feast of Saint Apollonia in Saint Francesco, it is used for arms as a red field with lists of white and red waves, and above Saint Giusto.
