San Donato ai Montanini

Saint Donato da Montanini occupies the houses from the Palazzo Buoninsegni meeting the Francesconi always right hand along the Strada della Posta, up to the second arch of the Rossi, where it turns into the back road, called dei Galli, and tucks into the straight road to the Arch of the Malavolti, next to the Church of Santa Maria of Snow, built by Casa Cinughi at top Vallerozzi; it is a field of gold quarters, and above a dragon.

Concistoro anno 1420: Sancti Donati iuxta Montaninos: ad quarterios crocei et rubei et desuper draco.

Sant'Egidio

Saint Egidio dal Poggio Malavolti extends up to Campo Regio, and then to Saint Anthony in Fonteblanda, where on the Sapienza road it returns to Poggio Malavolti, where there are now the Capuchins; for Arms it is a field with gold quarters, and red with Saint Egidio above.

Concistoro anno 1420: Sancti Egidii: ad quarterios crocei et rubei cum figura Sancti Ambroxii.

The two Contradas mentioned above under a Dragon's Machine appear at the shows, which Drago took from the Contrada of Saint Donato Montanini, who always used it in memory of Saint Caterina Benincasa, of which family is a Dragon for coat of arms. This machine has been found since the year 1494 at which time it appeared in a game of Pugna. In the year 1546, these Contrade appeared in Piazza in 64 clothes in yellow satin livery, as the Insignia was still yellow, and they led a Chariot pulled by several Nymphs, above which was a Dragon, which at the foot of the Palazzo della Lordship threw many fireworks. In 1650 he represented Hercules in the act of killing the Dragon, who was in the custody of the Garden of the Hesperides, as an invention above a large Chariot, which would make me think of describing it all, but in order not to spread too much, leave it to the reader's curiosity to be able to see in the Report of the said Party described by Guglielmo Palmieri, I will only say, that 60 people dressed in the Moorish style served to accompany this appearance.
